Alexandria with approximately 4 million people is the 2nd largest city in Egypt.  It occupies 32km of the Mediterranean coast.  It was founded by Alexander the Great in 331 BC.  It is famous for its lighthouse and its library, both of which are gone.  A new library was recently completed.
