Jericho is a city of approximately 20,000 Palestinians 10 miles north of the Dead Sea. It is believed to be one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities of the world. It is known in Judeo-Christian tradition as the place of the Israelites' return from bondage in Egypt. Archaeologists have unearthed the remains of over 23 occupation levels in Tel Jericho(Tel es-Sultan), the first of which dates back to 12,000 years ago (10,000 BC). This pre-dates agriculture.&$nbsp; Tel Jericho is near Elisha's Spring with Mt. Temptation close by. The tower in the wall is the oldest man-made structure that I have ever seen.
