Maligne Lake (crs)
|Start Slide Show|
Maligne Lake is a lake in Jasper National Park. It is famed for the colour of its water, the surrounding peaks, the three glaciers visible from the lake and Spirit Island, one of the most photographed locations in the world. The lake is located 44 km (27 mi) south of the town of Jasper, and is accessible by motor vehicle, including shuttle buses from Jasper. Boat tours run to Spirit Island from the spring to autumn. Maligne Lake is approximately 22.5 km (14.0 miles) long and is 97 m (318 feet) at its deepest point. During the winter months I have seen bear tracks around the public buildings which are closed for the season.
