Alberta is a western province of Canada. It is bordered on the north by the Northwest Territories, on the east by Saskatchewan, on the south by Montana and on the west by British Columbia. Alberta and its neighbor, Saskatchewan, were established as provinces on September 1, 1905. Edmonton, the capital city of Alberta, is located near the geographic center of the province and is the primary supply and service hub for Canada's oil sands and other northern resource industries. The province covers 255,500 square miles, is 760 miles from north to south and 410 miles from east to west, a large place. It was name after Princess Louise Caroline Alberta (1848–1939), the daughter of Queen Victoria and Albert. It is a beautiful place, both mountains and prairie. I was luckey enough to live there off and on during the 1980s.
