There are more than 60 tombs in the Valley of the Kings.  The site is located to the west of the Temple of Hatshepsut and is overlooked by a mountain in the shape of a pyramid((Al-Qurn).  The tombs are underground.  The temperatures at the site reach 140 F during the summer months.  Pictures are not allowed in the tombs.  The colors remain vivid after all of this time,.  Not all of the tombs are open to the public and not all of the tombs belong to pharaohs.  It is well worth bringing your own flashlight to illuminate poorly lighted areas.

I have included the map to illustrate the number of tombs involved.
