Approximately 23km north of Udiapur is the town of Nagda.  It was the capital of Mewar founded by Nagaditya in the 6th century.  Nagda was destroyed by Muslim invaders in the 13th century.  Today, Nagda is famous for its 11th century Sas-Bahu (mother-in-law and daughter–in-law) Temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu.  As the legend goes, they are the result of a healthy relationship between the Sas (mother-in-law) and the Bahu (daughter-in-law).  The temples are famous for fine sculpture and carvings depicting various phases of human life.

I believe that this was the oldest ruin that I saw in India, and it was one of my favorites. It may sound strange, but I think that there is an aura about some places, and for me, this was one of them. A beautiful place.
