First as PLace Loius XV it then became Place de la Revolution and finally the Place de la Concord.  Designed by Jacques-Ange Gabriel in the mid 18th century the 20 acre octagon in the center of Paris was the scene of 1,119 deaths during the revolution, including Marie-Antoinette and Louis XVI.  It is currently the home of a 3,200 year old obelisk from Luxor.  See the Citadel in Cairo for the item exchanged.  The fountains are from Charles Percier during the time of Louis Philippe (1773 - 1850).
